Kalanderkloof Cottage has a contemporary design touch with modern finishes and stylish furnishings. Ideal-for-two. This small cottage has an open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area. A double bed sized sleeper couch, easily catering for two children, is in the lounge. A four-seater glass table is ideal for enjoying meals in front of the fireplace. A cozy fire to warm up those colder nights or just for enjoyment adds to the ambience. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas powered fridge with freezer compartment, a gas stove and oven, double basin and cupboards.
Both the bedroom and lounge lead out onto the wooden deck through glass sliding doors where you can relax on deck chairs and soak up the sun or sip sundowners at sunset and listen to the sounds of night owls and the calls of forest night animals. A braai area is provided just off the deck where one can enjoy an open air fire, pamper a potjie or have a barbeque.
Off the grid living in the Kalanderkloof Cottage is achieved by the use of gas for cooking and baking, a solar geyser system for hot water with a back-up gas water heater should the solar system not be able to supply sufficient hot water during cloudy and rainy days.
Proud to be eco-friendly, all rain water is harvested and filtered giving a clean non-chlorinated supply for drinking, cooking and washing. A septic tank/french drain combination takes care of the waste water.
There is no power and therefore no television or sound system, allowing you to really get away from the rat race. However, the cottage is wired conventionally with standard 3-point South African plug outlets where chargers for cell phones or notepads can be plugged in and charged from a solar/battery power system that also powers the LED wall lights for evening use. Oil burning lanterns, candles and battery operated standby LED lamps are also available in the cottage.  All the wood for the braai and fireplace come from the wattles that are cleared from the farm.
